A R T I S T B I O G R A P H Y H E I N Z A F F O L T E R Heinz Affolter has become one of today's most expressive guitarists, both as a composer and a performer. On his latest album, 'Seascape', he has once again succeeded in producing a work laced with refreshing character, colour and style. The 'Seascape' theme is long overdue. Why? When Heinz is not working on his music he is to be found following his other love; scuba diving. 'Seascape' is a natural marriage of his two great passions. Heinz began his professional career on graduation from the Music Academy in Berne, Switzerland. He immediately formed his own band and spent the next two years performing countless live concerts, TV appearances etc. Right across Europe and also produced two albums. Heinz' 1986 debut 'solo' album, simply entitled 'ALONE', appropriately became his musical visiting card and led to a recording contract with American label JCI, based in California. The following album 'REALITIES' ('87) brought him substantial recognition; not only the media and a solid fan-base but musicians like Vinnie Colaiuta, Alex Acuna and Fernando Saunders became aware of him. It was then with these musicians that he recorded his next album 'ACOUSTIC ADVENTURE' (1989) There are few shores on all continents, however remote, that Heinz has not visited for the purpose of diving and regenerating his energy. Always close to people, he automatically shared a part of their way of life and culture - hence 'Acoustic Adventure' became the summary of these experiences. After two years on the road, travelling from LA to Leningrad, a new and very different album emerged; 'China Moon... or the other side of me' became the title of a musically progressive and very different Heinz. This album was immediately snapped up by B&W Records for exclusive worldwide release. 'Seascape' is in some ways a 'back to the roots' album for Heinz, but keen followers and observers will detect a subtle maturity in his performance. Here is a guitarist who can live with the best. And with the line-up for 'Seascape' including the legendary Dave Weckl, the best are more than happy to live with Heinz!!!
