Henry Mena is a Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter who, for more than a decade (1992-2003), led the pioneering Rock en Español act La Ruta. His first English-language release, the acoustic EP The Avatar Sessions, saw the light of day in 2002-it was re-released in an expanded and remastered digipak format in December 2007-and is currently recording Beautiful Insults and Compromises, a modern pop/rock album. Beautiful Insults and Compromises is due for an early 2010 release. While his own music has close stylistic ties to both power pop and the singer/songwriter vein, the breadth of Mena's musical interests is quite ample, as evidenced by his work as touring bassist for metal act JLS, guest vocalist with Latin jazz heavies Sonido Isleño, and a stint with multi-instrumentalist/producer Nova from Pacha Massive, among many others.
