Product Notes

This CD, 'RAINFOREST RAIN,' was inspired by the constant devastation of the Rain Forest. In order to draw attention to this world problem, each song except for Sarah's Song, is dedicated to the education of yearly losses of rain forest and the many species that make the rain forest their home. Each song becomes a reminder for all of us to conserve as much as we personally can, all of our God given resources. One of Herm Hassinger's first compositions, 'The Reef and the Rain forest,' (not included in this CD)inspired him to create additional original music based on the same theme. This CD is the result of years of work toward that cause. So far, Herm Hassinger composes all of his music on a piano keyboard. Since he is a self taught piano player, Herm Hassinger hires various talented artist to play his compositions resulting in the beautiful music that you will hear on this CD. Herm Hassinger did play Bass Guitar, in a fun hobby type wedding band named the 'Sandstones', for many years before composing music. He also was one of the lead singers in the 'Sandstones'. Herm also played Bass Guitar for the band Neighberz for a short while before retiring from the band scene. Bio from Lewis Sego - Piano & Keyboards: People I respect have told me, 'You are successful when you do what you love & use all the gifts God has given to you to touch lives.' Performing and recording with Faith Nation and others along with 20 years of music ministry has certainly afforded me to do just that. I feel blessed to have the network of musicians & the tools, eventeen synths & g4 powerbook driving pro tools to be making the best music of my life. It is a long look back to the magical event of the delivery of my dad's baby grand when I was five. I fell in love with the piano at once. Of course I wanted to quit like anyone who has ever taken up an instrument, but my Mom & Dad wouldn't let me. I am very grateful for that. From my first concert in second grade to playing in front of 30,000 plus outdoors, the musical journey has been exciting and fulfilling. Playing in front of bands like Styx, REO, Kansas, Jackson Brown, The Moody Blues, Super tramp and Rush, just to mention a few, was a lot of fun. Surviving, as an artist is no easy feat, writing jingles and corporate sales soundtracks, performing for Christmas parties, hotel restaurants, and weddings become necessities for sustenance and God has been faithful to me and to meeting the needs of my family. I am still married to the love of my life after 19 years and we have two boys who never hesitate to make fun of their 'rocker' dad. I continue to freelance as a recording artist, and writing and arranging film & TV soundtracks, and can be contacted at faithnation.com. Lewis uses Yamaha, Korg & Roland synthesizers. Harold Torrence, from Venezuela, started playing guitar almost 20 years ago. First, he learned to play the Venezuelan cuatro (a-four-string instrument similar to the ukulele), and shortly after he quickly decided to transition to the acoustic guitar. Harold spent his middle school and high school years playing for a Folkloric School band, and a Latin music group. He kept learning from different teachers and different styles like classic guitar, flamenco music, boss nova, jazz, Latin, rock, and others. Music became a wonderful companion, and he has kept the guitar very close to his heart. Few years ago, Harold moved to Minnesota to pursue a Master degree. He had the opportunity to meet Herm in Woodland Hills Church in Maplewood Minnesota in Fall 2004 while he was playing with Mensaje de Hermandad (a Latin music ministry from the Twins Cities). He is happy to participate in this wonderful CD, and hopes you can enjoy Herm's project as much as he does.
