Product Notes

One of the Grand Rapids area's most enduring rock/pop bands, the Honeytones first assembled in the mid-1980s as a stray-but-fetching musical idea -- an idea hatched by a group of musically driven newspaper reporters -- that spiraled into something truly unlike anything else. Combining straightforward rock sensibility with pop and blues textures, the Honeytones 'sound' is as unique as the unusual covers the band chooses to perform along with it's captivating original tunes (some of which have earned national recognition from Billboard magazine's songwriting contest). With the Honeytones, 'expect the unexpected,' The Grand Rapids Press once wrote. A West Michigan weekly called them 'the deans of the Grand Rapids pop-rock scene.' The group's first album, 'Lane Changes Are Risky,' was released in 1996, and the five-member band returned to the studio in late 2001, spending the next year building the musical hive that became 'Studio Bee' -- a 15-track adventure that's part rock, part smart-pop, part blues, part moody, part joyous, and all Honeytones.
