How and Lightning formed in the spring of 2005 in Seattle, Washington. Rooted in a psychedelic blend of tribal rock, How and Lightning's eclectic sound invokes an explosion of something darkly primal. Their brooding lyrics and moody melodies expose listeners to a rhythmic and artful trip through the landscape of imagination. Often likened to a reinterpreted "Grateful-Tool-Floyd-Doors" hybrid, How and Lightning's progressive rock is conscientiously indebted to the legacy of the last 50 years of electric music, although their sound is clearly original, testing the boundaries of existing songwriting composition and format. Band members Paul Steiner (vocals, keyboard, rhythm guitar), Rick Lucabaugh (lead guitar), Ezra Kille (bass guitar), and Aaron Cook (drums) equip How and Lightning with a serious arsenal of experience. Thanks to a generous sense of discipline, the band has wasted little time churning out new and inventive music, constantly edging towards a richer, deeper sound which culminated this year with the release of their debut album. Numinous was recorded in the summer of 2007 at Robert Lang Studios, engineered by Jeff Gall, mixed by Brian Valentino, and mastered by Ed Brooks.
