In some respects, Ida Olsson's music is an enchanting contradiction in terms. At once earthy and ethereal, playful and wise, worldly yet archetypically Swedish, her songs use heavenly harmonies and simple-yet-arresting arrangements to overcome the doubts of even the most sceptical among us. The non-Swedish speakers need not be able to follow the lyrics to be touched by these songs' beauty, while those of us who do understand Olsson's mother tongue are rewarded by the truths on offer within them. A joy from start to finish, this album is highly recommended.
