This album is a sonic delight. Relaxing, intriguing and fresh, Sonic Habitats takes you to a place of calm with the sounds of wind chimes and plucked piano strings. Off in the distance one hears the occasional ocarina sounding like an exotic bird call. Igor Korneitchouk's Sonic Habitats is an album of 'sound design.' Artists like Max Neuhaus create ambient sounds for installations in public spaces. Igor Korneitchouk has created an album of sounds you can play in private spaces like your home or office. He has designed the sounds on this album as an enhancement to -- not a distraction from -- work, concentration, meditation, conversation, relaxation. Let it be the pleasant background to your activity. BIO: IGOR KORNEITCHOUK born in Madrid, Spain, 1956, of Russian and German descent, emigrated to the U.S. at the age of three. A founding member of the performance art group touch me hear, he is interested in exploring the boundaries between music, technology, nature, performance and audience participation. Along with this Old King Cole disc, Korneitchouk's wide range of musical output is represented on several other recordings released by Old King Cole Productions, MMC, and Aucourant Recordings. American Record Guide calls his duo for prepared violins 'cutting edge... handled with a good sense of dramatic timing.' At home he, his family and pet turtle are surrounded by wind chimes.
