Product Notes

Ilene Adar East Coast native Ilene Adar is a songwriter who appreciates the crooked path often traveled by the human heart. Everything she always wanted to know but was afraid to ask she found in the vibration of a guitar string and a great song. Out of a thicket of words and experiences, she searches for the essence of our truths. Her guiding principles are that love is the only thing that matters; life just makes more sense when it's set to music; art saves lives; and there's nothing better for the inside of a person than the outside of a horse. Growing up in Rockville, Maryland in close proximity to the Mason-Dixon line, she developed an affinity for the soulful core of American traditional music, from folk to country, bluegrass to blues. Though her muscial influences are diverse, she has created a distinctive blend all her own. 'Her voice is crystal clear, fluid and her tones seem absolutely effortless.' -- Les Reynolds, Indie-Music.com Ilene's new release, 'Quiet The Storm', as well as her debut, 'First Sound' (2002) give voice to the passions, grief, and joys of the human condition. With recurring themes of love, loss, and redemption, Ilene's songs and crystalline voice evoke mystery and deep sense of spirit. She continues to develop her fan base in the San Fransisco Bay Area, playing in clubs, house concerts and coffee houses such as Bazaar Cafe, Epic Arts Studios, Cafe Amsterdam and an assortment of songwriter showcases as well as playing festivals and venues from Minnesota to Arizona. Selected Highlights: 2005 honorable mention, Telluride Bluegrass Festival Troubador Competition 2005 2nd place, Tucson Folk Festival Song Contest 2004 Finalist Tucson Folk Festival Song Contest 2004 Finalist Maryhill Winery Singer-Songwriter Competition 2004 Winner of Best Song and Best Performer Awards at West Coast Songwriter's Association Songwriting Competition 2003 Final Judging -Honorable Mention Woody Guthrie Songwriting Contest 2002 Great American Song Contest Finalist and Honor Award winnner Ilene is also featured on 2 compilation CD's: --Coffee Roasters of Fairfax, CA to benefit Marin Abused Women's Services --Bazaar Cafe of San Francisco, CA, dedicated to providing a place for independent original music in the San Francisco Bay Area '...an enchanting collection of songs from a fresh new voice in contemporary folk music.' -- Joy McKay, Rambles Magazine 'Ilene Adar shines throughout her debut album, First Sound.
