Jane St. Clair's debut CD, 'Stories," offers up songs born of a passion for lyrics and shaped by the musical influences of Jobim, Jimmy Webb, Joni Mitchell, Tom Waits and Sting. Jane studied writing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and composition at the Berklee College of Music and with Charlie Banacos in Boston before moving to LA. She made her second home in music at CalArts where James Newton, Paul Novros, David Roitstein and Jon Bergamo became her teachers. Her music is jazz-influenced with Brazilian grooves and heartfelt ballads. Jane recorded this project with world-class musicians Alan Pasqua, Paul Litteral, Nedra Wheeler, Danny Frankel, Ken Lasaine and Michael Manring. Each and all have a Who's Who resume of recording/touring with legendary bands and artists that include Ray Charles, James Brown, Bob Dylan, Santana, kd lang, Michael Hedges, Tom Waits and the B-52s. With the release of 'Stories,' Jane looks forward to collaborating with songwriters and composers and placing her songs with recording artists.
