Product Notes

'Her poems... discontinuous, imagistic, chant-like, wide-ranging in it's references, sonically dense... challenge more traditional ways of putting a poem together. She made us sound old-fashioned, more, she made us sound artificial, our tidy methodical artefacts simulacra of reality, instead of the postmodern reality caught and then broadcast like a radio signal from her poems.' - Jee Leong Koh, Stories of a Reformed Headhunter, January 2008 "The cleverness and depth of Jane Ormerod's presentation both challenged and mesmerized the audience. Descriptive yet judicious and yet seductive is how I would describe her word choice and it's affect on everyone." - Art Comments, July 2006 "A gritty and gutsy postmodern poet." - Metro Silicon Valley, January 2007 Born on the south coast of England, Jane Ormerod now lives in New York City in January. Her poetry and prose has appeared widely in US and UK publications including 'A Cautionary Tale: Seven New York Performing Poets' (Uphook Press, 2008),21 Stars Review, BigCityLit, Night Train, Arsenic Lobster, Eratio Postmodern Poetry, Failbetter, Ginosko Literary Journal, Poetz.com, and Word Riot. Her chapbook "11 Films" was published by Modern Metrics in 2008. Jane is now a regular on the New York poetry and spoken word circuit, performing at venues such as The Knitting Factory, The Cornelia Street Cafe, Bowery Poetry Club, The Stone, and Galapagos Art Space. In January 2007, she toured the west coast - from Vancouver, Canada, to San Jose - with Lisa Dewey as part of the Perpetual Motion Roadshow. She returned to California in August 2007 and again in 2008 and is back again for more readings in May 2009. Other recent performances have included Philadelphia, Boston, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, the Salon des Mots series in Utrecht, The Netherlands, and a poetry-percussion evening with Lawrence Detlor in New York.
