Product Notes

J.C. Unger was born in Windsor Ontario, Canada, and spent his childhood in the Leamington/Kingsville area. As a young child, J. C. studied violin at the St. Joseph's School of Music. His ability earned him a Silver Medal, the highest award in Canada, after only one year of study. During his career, J.C. worked with many bands around the Windsor/Detroit area on the club circuit. While with the band, The Dorian, J.C. and friends were signed with GM Records in Detroit. Garden Of Love, their first album, produced a hit in the Mid-West and in Europe entitled Help For My Waiting, co-written by J.C. In the early 1970s he joined a Las Vegas style show band and played to sold out venues from Las Vegas to Fort Lauderdale. After gaining valuable industry knowledge, J.C. produced the band The Shivers and their top-ten requested version of 'This Old Heart Of Mine' on Private Stock Records. MCA then signed J.C. as a songwriter and his tune 'Now That I've Found You,' was recorded by Al Hudson and One Way. The album on which it appeared sold more than two hundred thousand copies. After relocating to Michigan, Unger performed at noted area establishments. In 1980 he founded Sugar Lieu, one of the areas premier project recording studios. There he learned the art of recording and producing, helping hundreds of artists reach their dreams in the recording studio. More importantly, his clients remained his friends through all the years. J.C. performed as a regular guest on Detroit's Mitch Albom Show, simulcast on MSNBC. He produced and starred in his own Cable TV show, The J.C. Unger Show, on Downriver Cable Television. In 2001, his co-written song Picadilly, finished runner up in the prestigious John Lennon songwriting competition. He also won the Bud Light song competition, Grand Prize; a trip to Hawaii. In 2003, J.C. moved to St. Petersburg Florida, continued his studio work, and formed the highly successful band, 'When Buffett Meets Sinatra.' They currently perform to standing-room-only audiences in the Tampa-St. Pete area. In 2004 he released the critically hailed, 'Eclectic Gypsies.' He has also just completed his first novel entitled, 'A Musician's Story.'
