Jeff Christmas is a singer-songwriter who combines his loves of 60s soul music, a percussive guitar style, classical vocal training, and melodic craftsmanship with his desire to change the world. The most recent result of this muddy mixture is his self-titled debut album. The album spans myriad subjects and periods in Jeff's life and experiences while also spanning varieties of instruments, voicings, tempos, and genres. Whether it's a rant on the acoustic guitar, a heartbreaker on the piano, or a lounge lizard croon you will find it on this album. Originally from North Carolina, Jeff's trail has wound him from Boone, NC to Los Angeles to Boston and now to Tennessee where he has lived since 2003. He began playing the piano at age six but turned to the guitar when he was 17. Self-taught on the guitar he teamed up with a couple friends and they all began writing songs. Now, 9 years later he has a full catalogue of original songs and this album represents a small fraction of the entire body of work. Okay, I hate this. Writing in third person is a curse. Writing about oneself like this is impossible. I wrote this bio. I wrote and recorded this album. It represents a long journey for me in many ways. Some of these songs were written as long as 5 years ago. Others were written within the last 6 months. They say a lot about me and about my reflections on this life and this culture within which I find myself embedded. I think you will like this CD. It's diverse, perhaps a bit on the heavy side, but it has something to say. May you listen, hear, and enjoy.
