Jemani was formed in August 1999 when Sonny Wall walked up to a complete stranger and asked him if he knew anyone who produced Hip Hop. The stranger replied, 'no.'...but asked him if HE knew anyone that played guitar. Sonny answered 'I play guitar.' And the stranger put Sonny on the phone with Ike. The next day, Ike and Sonny met and produced the first of many crowd pleasers, 'Don't Know Sh--'. At the time, JEMANI was Ike and Sonny, but if they ever wanted to play live with their programmed drum beats...they would at least need a bass player....Enter Jason Guy. Jason was brought into the fold by the group's keyboard player who repeatedly warned, 'Your gonna wanna kick him out the group constantly!'...ironically enough...Jason is still here 7 years later...and the keyboard player is gone. Initially, the band's intention was to be a hip hop rock group that performed live to programmed drum beats...that was until Jordan Leopard called Ike after seeing an old flyer in the local music store. The thing is...the flyer was put up two years prior when Ike was working with a guitar player named Paisley Gordon...and Ike had completely forgotten to take it down when Paisley was recruited by Parliament Funkadelic (yes...THE Parliament Funkadelic...George Clinton...yea...them!!!) leaving Ike guitarless... but alas i digress... Jordan called and asked, 'I hear your looking for a drummer.' to which Ike responded...'No. We're not actually.' After Ike explained about the forgotten flyer...Jordan persistently asked, 'Well could I at least come see you guys practice, and bring you a tape?' Ike agreed and Jordan showed up at the next day's practice with a cassette tape... The guys were initially taken aback by Jordan's schoolboy exterior, and didn't think he'd fit in with the group... that was until Ike took the tape home, listened, and immediately called Sonny and said, 'I don't give a damn what he looks like...we got us a drummer!' Since then...the band has landed a Jagermeister Sponsorship, won virtually EVERY battle of the bands they've participated in, been voted BEST ROCK BAND for 2004 in their native Augusta, GA., and opened for a long list of national acts including: Sevendust, Drowning Pool, Puddle of Mudd, Seether, The 2Live Crew, Alterbridge, and Crossfade to name a few... Bottom line: If your a music FAN, and you don't know Jemani...you don't know sh--.!!! Straight Up!
