'Gimmick' was originally completed in 2002 but shelved due to the fact that seven of the nine tracks appeared on Standing Room Only's 'Beer and Cookies'. Standing Room Only was the moniker Jeremy and his brother Jarod Facknitz used for their now-defunct acoustic duo. This collection houses Jeremy's first attempts at songwriting, and while some of the material, as well as Jeremy's vocal stylings, might seem a little 'green', there are some golden oldies on this little piece of plastic. The second track, 'Her Song', has won Jeremy various nods in songwriting contests, and remains a fan favorite to this day, as well as 'Songwriter Strikes Back', an angry ode to what Jeremy describes as the 'asshole' that sits in the back of the club and yells 'play Freebird!' at solo acoustic musicians. If you're a fan of Jeremy's other work, or if you're a fan Gordon Lightfoot meets Jim Croce meets Ben Folds, this album is a must have. It's angry, it's honest, it's young and fresh, it's funny and sad. It's a young Jeremy Facknitz in a minimally produced nutshell.
