Jesus Jansen is the name for a new adventure, a newly baptized ship, skippered by Marcel Anton Jesus Jansen. After 15 years of song writing and recording in his home studio, a 400 year old cottage in the Rhineland marshes on the Dutch/German border, the singer/guitarist created a self reflecting musical piece of art: Weltschmerz. Songs that refer to open landscapes as well as up tempo pop songs are brought together in a natural way, without losing the over-all sound that defines Jesus Jansen. Jansen: I am aware of the fact that some people might feel provoked by the band's name. I feel that there's still a taboo on our prophet's name in these parts of the world while at the same time in southern Europe and South America the use of Jesus as a forename is quite a common thing. As a reverence rather than a provocation, I chose to restore the beauty and the purity of Jesus' name by adopting it into our band. Along with Buddhism, Christ's philosophies have a undeniable influence on my life and work. The introspective and self reflecting part of my music.
