A merry heart doeth good like a medicine - Proverbs 17:22. This is the premise behind the performances of the Jesus Name Players group and thus becomes an integral part of our music. The original group was in existence in the early 1980s, and was then revived in 2006, when we decided we needed to make a CD of our material for posterity's sake. The reception of our efforts was such that we thought we would like to share it with others through sales of the CD. We have tried to incorporate humor into much of our work along with quality music and the presentation of a valid message. The musical styles vary greatly with a little bit of Bluegrass, Country, R&B, Blues, Swing and Big Band sound, Dixieland and 'talking a song'. We hit them all - so if there is something you don't like, stick around, there will be a new one along shortly. From the redneck/hillbilly eyewitness accounts of biblical stories, to the old west-tinged theme song 'The Ballad Of The Preacher', to the Jazz-Blues arrangement of 'Amazing Grace', to the haunting trumpet solo of 'The Old Rugged Cross', to the rousing camp meeting rendition of 'Nothing But The Blood', you'll find a variety that will keep you on edge, not knowing what to expect next.
