Jimmy Yellowhorse "Cherokee Song Keeper" Born Cherokee, I have held a deep regard for many things in our culture and traditions my entire life. However, my love for the Native American Flute began many years ago after listening to it's beautiful sounds and soothing melodies and so my journey began. I am a self taught flute player. I have been playing the flute and performing all over the country for the past 20 years now. I have had the wonderful opportunity of playing and performing with other well known flute players and recording artists such as Mary Youngblood, Danny BeGay, Koteh, Wayne Johnson, J J Kent, Billy Whitewolf, Brad Young, Jamie Russell and Mike Serna. I am on several of these artists CD's. I was the opening act for Country Singer and Songwriter, David Allan Cole. Fifteen years ago I began teaching myself how to make the flute. With some advice from a friend and fellow flute player and maker, Wayne Johnson, I made flutes the traditional way by using a stick to measure the length of the flute and then traditionally burn the holes into the flute. The flute is precision tuned to scale. With all of these elements, it gives the flute it's life and wonderful voice. Many of the songs performed on this CD are made using various flutes that I have handcrafted myself or had gifted to me. All of the songs I have placed on this CD are very personal to me during a very hard time in my life. I chose to dedicate this CD to my wife, Pansy, who passed over several years ago. I hope that the beautiful sounding voice from my flutes speak to you and your heart as they have spoken to me over the years. Be blessed.
