John Moossa has been playing music for the better part of the last 25 years. His songs run across a wide spectrum of popular styles including folk, rock, reggae and blues. Themes of hope, love won and lost, desperation, fantasy and jubilation are brought to life via clever lyrics and memorable melodies. Topped with a dash of psychedelic mystery they become the ingredients for an intoxicating brew of original music. The songs on the Last Night CD drift in emotion from the brooding ('Blood Rage', 'Absent Without Leave') to the seductively hopeful ('Katrina', 'Girl on a Hill with a Mirror'). Adjectives used to describe their repertoire of original music include lively, funky, dark and fun. The thoughtful lyrics and moving rhythms of the group lure listeners along on a soul-searching musical odyssey. Influences include Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Pink Floyd and Miles Davis to name a few. They invite comparison to all sorts of other groups such as the Violent Femmes, the Dave Matthews Band, the Wailers and even Johnny Cash. One of the tracks, 'Sit Down', released last fall as a free mp3, peaked at #3 on the MP3.COM World Reggae charts. Other songs have enjoyed regional airplay. ENJOY!
