Aloha, Hafa Adai & Ia Orana. I hope that my music takes your thoughts & dreams back to the warm air, the incredible ocean, the pounding surf, and the bluest skies ... The magic of the South Pacific. I was born and grew up in Guam where I spent many days surfing, shaping & glassing surfboards under my Inapo Surfboards label, learning from shapers & glassers on Guam like Mark Koenig, Mort McIntosh and the late Butch Bivines. My passion for surfing took me to many different places in the Pacific including Saipan, the Hawaiian Islands and to the French Polynesian islands of Tahiti, Moorea and Huahine, which really influenced my music and writing style. Back in 1991, I released a double-cassette featuring my songs 'Mama Mia She's Crazy' and 'The Hardest Part' with my brother-in-law Robert Goldkamp singing the lead parts in those songs. I sang in 'em but mainly wrote the music & lyrics. In 2005, I released my first CD titled 'TAHITIAN DREAMS' on the Tahitian Dreams Studio label. This CD is available. My newest CD 'CHAMORU DREAMS', also on the Tahitian Dreams Studio label, was released October 24th, 2007. The music in this CD has Tahitian influenced rhythms, and a combination of jazz and rock tunes; really cool stuff that has taken me over 2 years to write & record. There is a very passionate Chamoru song titled 'Man gui guifi yu ta'lu' about an island boy who dreamt often about his family & friends on his native island. In this CD, I sing in four languages: Tahitian, English, French & Chamoru. As a lead guitarist & vocalist, I have performed at Disneyland's Tomorrowland and different showrooms & venues throughout Southern California, Tahiti, Oahu, Kauai, Maui, Reno, Laughlin, Denver and Las Vegas. I have played in four separate tours to Tokyo & Hiroshima, the northwestern U.S. and Canada with several of my groups. I've performed in concerts as lead guitarist with Stevie Wonder, and opened concerts for the Doobie Brothers, Ronnie Laws, Norman Brown & Spyro Gyra. I've been either a bassist or lead guitarist & vocalist for several groups including Tahitian Dreams, DaJamBand, The Pepper Williams Project aka PWP, Makai, Tunesmith, Johnny Quest, the Class Act. While living in Hawaii, I played guitar for the Newtown Band, bass for the Nate Kanae Quartet, and both bass & guitar (at different stages of that gig) for the Paul Flynn & Company group in Honolulu, Hawaii. I hope that the music in 'Chamoru Dreams' and in 'Tahitian Dreams' takes you back to the tropics, the incredible sapphire blue ocean, the thunderous sound of waves crashing on the reef, the bluest skies above. This is the magic & the dream ... of being there in the isles of the Pacific.
