Born deaf to a family of seven in a flat in Jersey City, New Jersey, John Romano's humble and somewhat odd roots harkens to the things that would come. As to his hearing 'there were seven of us running around no one really figured out I couldn't hear until I was about three.' Many doctor visits later it was determined that the hearing loss was an issue of water clogging the ear canals since birth. After a few operations John was given the great gift of sound. He has been working on losing his hearing ever since ;) After drifting through much of his life John discovered music at 28. 'I always knew it was my calling, I was just a little lazy about things. Growing up was hard, a broken household filled with a myriad of social problems led to a real meekness that I needed to overcome.' He says drift but the record shows that John wrote the lyrics to a hit record at 22, performed over 400 shows as a stand-up comedian, started varsity soccer in college, is an accomplished painter (the cover art to John Romano's CD 'Delicious' was painted by him) and chased many, many beautiful women while living the highlife in the New York club scene, the San Francisco internet boom, and LA's new millennium singer songwriter scene. Oh, and his nickname is Johnny Rome, has been for 15 years.
