Product Notes

This release brings together four colorful works for classical guitar from distant corners of the globe. It includes the Appalachian flavored Blue Ridge Suite by Alan Hirsh; Carlo Domeniconi's Turkish-inspired fantasy, Koyunbaba; Argentine composer Jose Luis Merlin's sentimental and dancy Suite del recuerdo; and one of the great European masterworks of all time, J.S. Bach's second sonata for violin. Concert and Recording artist Joseph Pecoraro appears as soloist, chamber musician, and with orchestra in recitals across the U.S. and abroad. His performances have received widespread recognition and awards. Recent appearances include performances as soloist with the Wintergreen Festival and Roanoke Symphony Orchestras, solo recitals at the Kennedy Center, the Chicago Cultural Center, and in France, Italy, Mexico, and Switzerland. Pecoraro is also frequently featured on radio and television broadcasts around the U.S. His recordings features major works by Domeniconi, Ponce, Hirsh, Bach, Merlin, and others. He is also the author of the guitar reading text 'Read This First'. Pecoraro also performs with acclaimed flutist Elizabeth Ransom as the 'Ransom-Pecoraro Duo'. Both committed educators as well as performers, the duo offers concerts and educational programs in a variety of venues and is included in the North Carolina Arts Council's Touring Artist Roster. In 1998 he was appointed to the Artist Faculty of the North Carolina School of the Arts. Previous teaching positions include Salem College, Indiana University, and the University of Colorado. Pecoraro appears frequently as guest clinician, directs the NCSA Summer Guitar Workshops and teaches regularly at the American Suzuki Institute in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, the Colorado Suzuki Institute in Snowmass, Colorado, and the Blue Ridge Suzuki Camp in Northern Virginia.
