Product Notes

In what he likes to call Squeeze Rock, Julz A uses the accordion as a central figure in the rock riffs of his songs. His sound is fundamentally alternative rock music with a whole spectrum of influences. Julz A pushes the envelope in how melodic guitar-driven music alters the way we listen to hip-hop and rapping, with a musical laboratory of raw accordion polyphony. The presentation is simple, but the use of accordion pushes his eclectic sound into the same category as Beck, Outkast, early De La Soul and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Most recently, Julz A performed at the world famous Apollo Theater along side of Whoopi, Chingy and Ray Chew. Toting his latest release, Squeeze Right EP, Julz-A (aka Julian Hintz) is known around New York City as an eclectic accordionist, vocalist, percussionist and producer. The classically trained multi-instrumentalist takes music in the most intriguing direction with the release of his new solo Squeeze Rock EP. Julz A received an honorable mention for The Billboard World Song Contest 2005 with his song "I Tried," featured on the Squeeze Rock EP, as well as honorable mentions for the We Are Listening Singer/Songwriter Awards 2006 with his songs "Where?" and "Sunset Time." Besides the Apollo appearances, notable Julz A performances include appearances at MMC11 2007, NXNE 2006, Celebrate Brooklyn 2005, The Rock Accordion Summit of New York and Providence 2005, The CalArts West Goes East Festival 2005, The Rock Accordion Summit of Philadelphia 2004, and The CMJ Music Marathon in 2002. He is a member of Terry Dame's Electric Junkyard Gamelan, which received recognition as part of the HERE Artist in Residency Program (HARP) in 2004, and celebrates their most recent release, "Live From Here", which includes a featured Julz-A bonus track.
