Product Notes

When K.C. Frogge picks up a pen to write a song, whether it's roots are in rock, folk, country or ballad, it's like a fine artist selecting a paintbrush, examining the subject before painting, and then, speaking in a language of broad, passionate strokes paired with fine details, speaking volumes with one canvas. She 'paints' incredibly moving pictures with her lyrics and vocals, the only difference between song and painting being that the frame and canvas are now the ears and mind of the listener. 'Flying Solo' is a totally-acoustic, one-voice, one-guitar collection of nine of K.C.'s most-requested songs from open mics and local performances (including 'Car at the End of the World' which was featured as one of 20 'Best Songs You Never Heard' on KGO-Radio's Pete Wilson program, and of which guest judge Diane DiGarmo, runner-up in the 2003 American Idol competition, said could definitely find it's way onto her iPod). 'Flying Solo' features K.C.'s intriguing songwriting skills, lyrics full of imagery that invite you to close your eyes and create your own music video, and a resonant, unique voice that has been described as, among other things, a 'vocalrollercoaster' with abundant range and emotion. 'Lovely, unique voice... strong hooks... nice play on words.' -- Annalisa, afternoon host at KFOG-FM 104.5 (San Francisco), noting K.C.'s performance at a West Coast Songwriters open mic performance 'Interesting vocals and word play with lyrics.' -- Jocelyn Kane, Motogirl Productions 'Interesting vibrato there... I can't do vibrato!' -- Pete Wilson, host of San Francisco's KGO radio's 'The Best Music You Never Heard' program on 11/20/05 after K.C.'s song, 'Car at the End of the World' received airplay as one of 20 songs selected to be heard on the two-hour program. 'I liked it... Tracy Chapman hasn't come out with a CD in awhile, so there's always a pocket to pick up, and she'd fit in perfectly there,' and 'This folk-rock, I liked it... and this could definitely find it's way onto my Ipod.' -- Diana DeGarmo, 2nd Place Finalist, 2003 American Idol and a guest judge for 'The Best Song You Never Heard', commenting about 'Car at the End of the World'. '... East Bay's Hottest Emerging Artist KC Frogge does it again!' -- B.A.C.W. (Bay Area Community of Women) in their online events calendar for December 2005 'She just came out of nowhere!' -- Mary Carouba, co-author with Susan Hagen of the groundbreaking 9/11 (September 11, 2001) book 'Women at Ground Zero' and longtime host of the 'First Fridays' women's salon performance series in Sebastapol, California. While studio work will soon begin on K.C.'s fully-arranged 14-song release titled 'Into the Path of an Oncoming Life' (projected release date Summer 2006), a surprise debut 'prequel' acoustic-only album of K.C.'s nine most-requested songs, 'FLYING SOLO,' is definitely going to be a tasty appetizer for K.C. friends and fans, as well as fans-to-be. If you're familiar with and enjoy K.C.'s lyrical and vocal artistry, you'll really want to get 'FLYING SOLO,' her very first acoustic CD release... and if you haven't yet heard her incredible lyrical poetry, you'll want to give a listen to the sample tracks here. You'll even get something almost becoming extinct with new CDs: a full-color 16-page glossy insert book with full lyrics and photos to all nine songs on this debut album, although with her clear vocal musicianship, you don't need a lyric sheet to understand the words... it just makes it that much more fun to sing along once you have it in your car, home stereo or iPod. And YES, it's on this CD: K.C.'s folk-rock tune 'Car at the End of the World' was selected as one of 20 songs to be sampled on San Francisco KGO radio's 'The Best Music You Never Heard' program hosted by Pete Wilson on Friday, November 11, 2005. (see host and judge's comments, above) It's no wonder that this tune is making it's way onto every audiences' 'favorite song' lists (not to mention their heads!), and is the most requested title in K.C.'s repertoire to date. THE '411' ON K.C.: With a classic rock influence as her creative foundation, K.C. writes and performs with a distinctively lively flavor on her transparent red Ibanez AEF acoustic (affectionately named 'Miss Scarlett,' while her red hollowbody electric Ibanez Artcore is aptly named 'Miss Scarlett Too'). Her songs range in style from melodic rock, folk rock, adult contemporary rock to country rock and ballads, and she even throws in an occasional parody or two when the spirit beckons... her answer to that comedic inner voice that wanted her to try stand-up comedy instead of singing -- so she figures, 'why not do BOTH?' Her easygoing nature with audiences is a testament to her belief that we're all just people having one big, fun conversation in concert, and many of her songs are stories that make one listen in rapt attention. Yet her singing voice is anything but laughable, pulling you inside her songs and taking you for a memorable ride with her almost 3-octave range. She's been described as a 'vocal rollercoaster' and continues to earn the tag with her diverse and intensely-moving lyrical and musical compositions. Another recent gem off her pen, the country-rock-flavored 'Comfortable Shoes,' (also available on 'FLYING SOLO'!) is receiving high praise from audiences, who almost always mention vivid imagery created by the descriptive lyrics... not to mention a really upbeat, memorable melody and rhythm. And other often-requested songs on this album, like 'Car at the End of the World,' plus 'Sure Thing,' 'Don't Follow Me,' 'Could You Think?,' 'Dear Amanda,' 'Out Of Sight,' 'Life on Wheels,' and 'Don't Save A Rocking Chair For Me' all contain the lyrical imagery that invites one to close his or her eyes and see a music video spring to life. K.C.'s ability to tell a unique story through her compelling lyrics and unique vocals makes her a truly original emerging artist to enjoy... her path will indeed be a melodic, intriguing, and exciting one as she continues to develop. Upcoming song debuts this winter will include the titles 'I Won't Be Here Forever,' 'Meet You Halfway,' and 'Scent of the Rain', which will be released on the upcoming second album, 'Into the Path of an Oncoming Life" with it's title track and other newly-completed songs such as 'If It Takes A Lifetime,' 'Chase A New Horizon,' 'Golden Globe,' 'Cast the First Stone,' 'Take A Pill,' and 'Strange Things Happen.' She's coming 'out of nowhere' to an open mic, showcase, benefit, song screening, or workshop near you in the Bay Area. Click on K.C.'s website page to see where she's performing if you're in the San Francisco Bay area so you won't miss hearing perform live. She is one performer you may thoroughly enjoy watching emerge as her songwriting and performance career continues to blossom.
