Kalio gayo: a different kind of folk music. Music from various parts of the world inspire Kalio Gayo. Irish and gipsy, or Roma, folkmusic are the most important sources. But you can also hear scandinavian, Russian and Indian influences. The songs change from lively and fast to ballads that give you goosebumps all over. The music is honest, the voices are clear, resulting in songs that stick to the mind like a pop-song. Rousing guitar rhythms accompanied by the powerful tunes of the banjo mix well with the harmonies of the voices. The music of Kalio Gayo, although sometimes melancholic, has the power to cheer you up. The lyrics in English, roma and blabberatsch are about all the important things in life: love, friendship, booze, insecurity, death, and the landscapes where this happens. Kalio Gayo was formed in 1999 from Jojo MacAspro, "the bubbling solution in hard times". The music on Fearless, the third and most recent album, has been written by Egbert den Braber and Anja Pleit.
