Captivating audiences in the Boulder/Denver area with her refreshingly unique indie/pop/folk sound, Kathy is happily being compared to some of her favorite songwriters: Joni Mitchell, Jonatha Brooke, Shawn Colvin. Kathy's muse weaves the mundane with the metaphysical to form a truly uplifting tapestry of sound and images, encouraging us to: dream big, be unique, love deeply, live gratefully, forgive wholeheartedly, keep the faith, seize the day and embrace the present moment. In short, Kathy's songs remind us of all the things worth remembering. "The audience favorite seems to be, My Insanity. It seems to soothe people, make them feel it's okay to be different, unique and make them laugh. The next favorite is Dream probably because it's one of those "nothing is impossible" kind of songs. In choosing which songs to put on the album I decided to go with an over all theme of positivity and put the songs that had that "feel good" quality. I think people need a vacation from their problems and music can be so uplifting if that's the intention behind it. Nothing makes me happier than to hear someone say, "Wow, I can't stop playing your CD, it just feels so good!" That is my main intention for songwriting." Beautifully produced, 'Dream' includes contributions by Grammy-award winner Les Kahn on the mixing board and three time Grammy winning engineer Tom Wasinger on 'Annie Ride' and 'I Love You.' REVIEWS: 'Kathy Nelson hangs out the window on the curves, banging heart and soul together like pots and pans in the darkening forest.'-Chuck Pyle 'I enjoy all the songs on the CD, but I have to mention my favorites: 'My Only One' brought me to tears. 'My Insanity' -- we all listen to that one over and over again. But I have to speak to 'I Love You' -- what a powerful song. Great voice.' -Betsy Bailey 'I just wanted to tell you that I really enjoyed your CD. Insightful and touching lyrics abound, and your themes on redemption and belief in oneself are a real inspiration, not just for writers, but for anyone. Being a songwriter myself, I know how one can feel sometimes when someone else picks their favorites... because then you ask 'hey what's wrong with the other ones?' :)... well that's how I tend to think, but at any rate all of your songs were excellent, but I have to say that I love 'Remember'- great changes, harmonies, and of course your very visual lyrics ( the part about painting trees blue as a kid) was a case in point, and this feeling of non-conformity bled into the witty 'My Insanity'-- I loved this one, not only because of the reference to Dom Deluise :), but because you mixed it up in this one in your approach. 'Forgiven' is beautiful and peaceful, and 'Dream' I very much remember from your performance at the contest... keep believing indeed! You have a lot to offer... I can hear the passion in your voice and your guitar playing is polished... nice arrangements, especially on 'Forgiven'.' -Chris Gavito 'I am enchanted with your music. And very impressed. I have listened to the CD many times, and it continues to grow on me, to put more and more little roots down into my mind. You have an incredible talent.' -kate.
