When growling guitars echo with innocent integrity and your soul is warmed by an Indie-Pop glow, you must be experiencing Kilgore Trout. Kilgore Trout was formed by NYC singer/songwriter Jeremy Gray, in the dawn of 2000. Enlisting the help of good friend and Bassist Jason Simon, the two created the mold and sound that would be today's KT. Counting the Indie-Rock pioneers 'The Pixies' as a key influence, Jeremy and J sought out a voice that could balance Jeremy's edgy vocal attack with a sweet longing harmony. Enter Lead Guitarist Miss Kim Henry (formerly of the Churchill's /Universal). From the first rehearsal in Ghetto Dog Studios back at KT headquarters in Jersey City, NJ, the Kilgore Trout sound held a rare balance of delicacy and angst. Jeremy's emotionally ragged writing style blended perfectly with the bright pop of Kim's vocal harmonies and guitar leads, creating something that is at once both bitter and beautiful. Releasing their second EP Novocaine in 2004, Kilgore Trout has brought their sound to new and complex levels. Novocaine, was recorded at Peter Robinson's Dumbo Studios, NYC (former VP A&R RCA) by Alex Smolinski of (Lola Ray/Sony) fame and mixed by sound guru Jon Kaplan of (The Hatters). The resultant EP features Kilgore Trout pushing their blend of edgy Indie-Pop to a higher plane. The songs are laced with melodic, angst-ridden lyrics and heavy guitars, which are smoothed out and given a pop Polish by the lilting harmonies and bright leads of Kim. Tracks such as 'Beautiful' deliver light and simple Beck-like verses, which climb and wind into solid rock hooks. Drummer, Bobby Bonhomme and J drive an infectious groove through 'I Make You Mine', that won't leave your head for days. Taxi A&R review on KT, 'This band has a bleeping, ton of talent and loads of potential. I can't wait to hear what's next' Starpolish, 'Kilgore Trout is like The Bends (Radio Head) meets the Pixies, bitter and sweet all at the same time, in a tight Indie rock package and they have a female lead guitar player, how cool is that.' A Drop of Street Cred: Kilgore Trout has sold in excess of 10,000 units of their inaugural EP. KT tracks are featured on Indie Hits and Spa Records Compilations KT was a feature artist on Spa Records Emerging Music Tour 2000 KT single 'Mustard' was selected by Sony Pictures Soundtracks for the films 'Who You Wanted' and 'Fifteen minutes of Fame' KT song 'Does Your Face Hurt' was featured in the Independent hit film 'Dart Tarts' KT wrote the soundtrack for AT6 film 'Solitude'. KT was the principal organizers of The Dr. Marten's Sole Searching Tour.2002 On which they toured the U.S. as support performer.
