Kim has been singing since the age of 4, performing live and songwriting since the age of 13. Her musical roots are drawn from the family gene pool, with almost everyone around her, while growing up, having played a musical instrument. She has many influences and has a well rounded knowledge of all styles of music. Kim is more interested in deriving a song from feeling rather than trying to fit a certain genre. She is a self taught musician whose captivating voice always attracts a crowd. Kim draws on the many experiences in her life and the stories of the people around her and, with her songwriting partner and lyricist, Barbara Harris, exudes many of the emotions of love, loss, and life through her music. Kim received a Certificate of Achievement from the Billboard Music Song Contest for the song "What I'm Sayin". In 1996 she became a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association (NSAI), making frequent visits to Nashville, which led her to the privilege of being invited to sing at the historical Ryman Auditorium, once again home to the Grand Ole Opry. She and her songwriting partner also placed in the Billboard Music Song Contest in 2005 among the top 1500 songs internationally for "Precaution" and "Eye to Eye".
