Product Notes

BIO An acquaintance once said,' You have a story to tell - everyone does. Some will tell it, and some won't.' This is Krista's story. She was born in Dallas, Texas where her family lived a familiar suburban middle class life. Her mom worked long hours for a law firm downtown, and her father became an ordained Assembly of God minister in 1975. Her childhood was full of typical moments, but her love for music and acting shaped some of her earliest memories. The summer before her 12th birthday, she moved to a small town in South Texas. Krista said that moving from Dallas to a town with a population 2,000 sign posted near the one-stop light, chicken plant, and Dairy Queen was a major culture shock. It was also at this young age that Krista sang her first solo at the Nixon, Texas Assembly of God Church. She still remembers the moment vividly, standing on the platform holding on to the podium for dear life. This period in the eighties was the beginning of the karaoke phenomenon, and Krista found herself singing every background track she could get her hands on. She said she spent many hours in the kitchen of her childhood home, singing Patsy Cline, Madonna, Patty Loveless, and anything by Whitney. She won her first talent contest singing 'Daddy's Hands,' and within six months sang Tiffany's 'Could've Been' before 5,000 people at the Future Farmers of America State Convention. This appearance garnered her an invitation to sing in front of 22,000 people at the National FFA Convention, in Kansas City, Missouri. After appearing at the FFA convention she was invited to tour with the United States European Concert Tour. Krista said people embraced her country roots during the tour of Europe. She said, during one specific performance before an audience in Germany, fans began to wave white flags while she sang 'Break It to Me Gently.' She later asked the translator what that meant, and he told her they were giving her the equivalent of a standing ovation. By the end of high school and college she had already performed in front of thousands of people, from Texas to Europe. She appeared and performed on television, and had many newspaper articles documenting her travels and successes. Krista won numerous talent contests, and went on to compete in the Miss America Scholarship Program. When asked about why she entered her first pageant, she said she wanted to sing, and it seemed like a good idea to earn scholarship money while doing what she loved. Krista held the titles of Miss Fort Worth and Miss Houston. One summer during college, Krista auditioned and won the lead role in a Sea World of Texas production. Her years in college were packed with weekends traveling from one performance to another. Her senior year she made the tough decision not to graduate along with her longtime friends from high school. Instead she participated in a Walt Disney World College Internship Program in Orlando, Florida. She graduated a semester later than her friends, but felt the opportunity was one she couldn't pass up. After college she moved to Dallas and started her career in medical equipment sales. She now works for a pharmaceutical company. Krista began singing on opry shows around Dallas, singing at her local church, and at other events. She also reunited with an old family friend and classmate. Krista and Everett married in 1997, making their fathers, who had been friends since childhood, very happy. Krista has written songs for years, and has compiled a notebook with a mixture of finished and unfinished songs. In 1997 she tried to break into the country music business, but all the pieces didn't fall into place at the time. She says she learned a lot about the music business, and the importance of having a thick skin from that experience. Then came 9/11. She was changed by the events of that day, like many others, and believes that was the beginning of a new season in her life as a singer, and writer. The scope of her writing changed to songs of hope, faith, and destiny. Her song, 'I Already Knew You' encompasses all these ideas, and happily reminds us that God knew each of us before our birth. She is working on her independent album, 'Leap of Faith,' with songs she has co-written, and co-produced. Krista heard a quote from a famous singer; 'Music is like a flame in your soul that never goes out.' She believes that statement best captures her feelings about singing. She said, 'I may not have everything figured out, but to be idle in my gift would be disobedience to God. The Bible says obedience is better than sacrifice, and I may fail trying, but ultimately I must be obedient to the call of God to share my gift, and glorify Him while doing it. I have to believe He will show me the way.' ____ 2003 CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: * Recently performed original song, 'Keep on Climbing,' at the Miss America Trade Show in Atlantic City, New Jersey, as part of a fundraiser benefiting the American Cancer Society * Currently ministers at her local church, as a soloist, special guest singer for Praise and Worship, and the Higher Power Youth Band * Ministers at churches, weddings, and meetings across the state * Guest singer for Luis Torres Ministries; various ministry events (2002 - Present) * Guest singer for Mike Barber Ministries (Women's Prisons, Gatesville, Texas, January 2003) * Guest singer for North Dallas Section Assembly of God Women's Ministry Rally (April 2003) * In production to record 'You Are There' by Dove Award nominated songwriter Dan Burgess * Attended the Gospel Music Association's, Seminar in the Rockies 2003 * Member of Gospel Music Association * Member of BMI * Recording, writing, and co-producing independent debut album entitled Leap of Faith * Independently promoting her album to Christian radio stations in Dallas Krista's mission is to glorify God through music, share what He means to her with the world, and do what He calls each of us to do: Use the gifts He has given for His glory.
