'Low-fi art-rock sounds like a cliché' smiles La Belle Aurore's Matthew Ritenburg. 'How can I say anything about my music without sounding like a broken record?' With that wry pun aside, there is plenty of fresh prose to describe La Belle Aurore. 'People have called my music distant and surreal.' Beams Matthew. 'Given the current global scene, how could a rational person not be retreating into a comforting world of dreams?' How better to express a world of dreams than through modernized electro-acoustic music? On one hand, La Belle Aurore's debut revolve is laced with whacked-out analog modular synthesis and on the other, revolve resounds with transcendental guitar rock dribbled on canvas with a brush found in Syd Barret's art school locker. Matthew adds: 'I like to juxtapose elements from all of my influences without being too obvious. I tip my hat here and throw a knowing wink there. For the most part I consider revolve to be a shy, smart lo-fi art-rock libretto of rough-hewn collages and smooth soothing psychedelic textures.'
