Product Notes

Lance Koonah, originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, is currently leading his own group (Lance Koonah Innerworkings.) His recordings can be purchased at certain Barnes and Noble stores in the New York region. Lance recently received a New York State Arts Council grant for 2005 to do several performances in the New York area. Before completing a several year term with the United States Military Academy Band at West Point, he received a Bachelors degree in music performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York where he was part of several groups including the Eastman New Jazz Ensemble. Recently he has perfromed extensively with his own quartet in the New York area and has had the opportunity to perform with musicians such as Joe Lovano, John Clayton, and Cameron Brown. 'Saxophonist Lance Koonah has much to say. To my ears, he's searching for his own voice, using elements drawn from Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, and possibly Clifford Jordan....he's always thoughtful and always searching.'
