Lareau is a band that has explored their original sound right from the beginning, evolving as they went. The band's goal is to create all the elements of their songwriting for their live audiences. Lareau, named after lead singer Larry Lareau, takes a modern look at rock music with a full sounding mix of harmonies, keyboard layers, tight, clever rhythms and huge hooks. They've explored a sort of Pop-Rock-Alternative style of songwriting. The style can be both hard and driving and soft and soulful within the same song. Lareau's notoriety is the ability to write great pop songs and then deliver them live. The band draws from a wide variety of influences that is apparent each time you experience the music, and the songs will stay with you long after you first hear them. The group is made up of drummer and keyboardist, Darrin Payne, who's harmony voice and playing style is an identifiable element of every Lareau song, / bassist Shawn Phelps, who's songwriting and fretless bass work contribute to the band's studio and live sound, guitarist Pete Gool's signature Mesa sound gives Lareau it's contemporary edge and tasteful texture / and lead man Larry Lareau who's stylistic voice and songwriting inspired the band's conception. Most recently Chris Saxton's master fretwork can be heard with the band live on lead guitar and appears on the new CD. Lareau is a hard working band that has set high goals for themselves.
