What I Used to Get Up To 3.52 (Avril/Macainsh) Control/Mushroom On performing in Tamworth - they never let you forget how outrageous you can be - & I still kick my legs up even after 21 years at the Festival! Features Sam Lemann on guitars, Greg Macainsh on bass, Garrett Costigan on pedal steel & Gerry Pantaris on drums. 3. Tangled Up in Love 3.13 (Weatherly/McDill) Originally recorded by Gus Hardin, I first heard this song while playing with Chris Stockleys' Blue Healer Band in the 80s. A big rock ballad, it is also on my 2nd CD Leslie Avril "Live". Features Sam Lemann on acoustic guitars, Garrett Costigan on pedal steel, James Black on piano, Paul Gadsby on bass & backing vocals & Gerry Pantaris on drums. 4. The Fool 3.45 (Lee Hazlewood) Debra Music/Desert Palms Lee Hazlewoods' 1st hit as a producer and songwriter was recorded by rockabilly artist Sanford Clark in 1956. I have changed the words a little. Some of These Blues 3.09 (Wilson/Talbot) Mushroom After doing some song writing sessions with Ross Wilson, this was one of the songs that I selected to do. Features Sam Lemann on guitars, James Balck on paino, Adam Gare on mandolin, Chris Wilson on Harmonica, Paul Gadsby on bass, Gary Young on drums & Jody Bell on backing vocals. 6. Flesh & Bone 2.34 (Wilson/Minson) Mushroom/Control I really liked this song when I heard it. Gritty lyrics that suit my earthy style. Features Sam Lemann on electric & acoustic guitars, James Black on electric guitar & piano, Paul Gadsby on bass & Gary Young on drums. 7. There's a Guy Works Down the Chipshop 4.02 (MacColl/Rambow) Written by the late English singer Kirsty MacColl, daughter of folk singer Ewan MacColl. She recorded "Fairytale of New York with the Pogues but tragically died in a controversial boating accident in 2000. This was her first hit single, charting in the UK at #14 in 1981, and remaining in the charts for nine weeks. It reached #9 in the Irish charts. I have also recorded another song of hers "Don't Come the Cowboy" on my 1st CD "Champagne & Desolation". Ticking of the Clock 4.10 (Avril/Macainsh) Comtrol/Mushroom A big rock ballad. I wrote this song when I turned 40! The song features a classic Greg Macainsh line - all my friends were getting married. Far from the Storm 3.35 (Russell Morris) Productions When sourcing songs, asked Russell to submit. A tropical feel. Love Won't Come 3.52 (Allen/Daniel/Schulster) Cookbook Publications A passionate rock ballad.I had a plan to record this as a duet with another powerful female singer but that didn't happen! Features Sam Lemann on guitars, Garret Costigan on pedal steel, Adam Gare on fiddle, Paul Gadsby on bass, Gary Young on drums & Jody Bell on backing vocals. 11. Fatter Than Texas 3.54 (Greg Macainsh) Mushroom I song about food with an American flavour! Features Sam Lemann on guitars, James Black on piano, Paul Gadsby on bass & Gerry Pantaris on drums. 12. Good News Bad 3.13 (Kerryn Tolhurst) Noble Rot When sourcing songs, asked expat Kerryn to submit. Features Sam Lemann on guitars, James Black on keyboards, Garret Costigan on pedal steel, Paul Gadsby on bass, Gary Young on drums, Sandro Donati on tambourine & Jody Bell on backing vocals. 13. When Billy Came Back 4.31 (Burt/Champion) Mushroom/Warner Chappell A serious song written about a First World War Veteran coming home. This song is also on my 2nd CD Leslie Avril "Live". Features Sam Lemann on acoustic guitars, Adam Gare on mandolin, Garrett Costigan on pedal steel, Gerry Pantaris on drums, Paul Gadsby on bass & backing vocals along with Leslie, Tita Farrar & Jody Bell. 14. I'd Rather Stay Home 2.14 (Felice & Boudleaux Bryant) A slow waltz. B side recorded by Kitty Wells in 1956. Her 1952 hit recording, 'It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels', made her the first female country singer to top the U.S. country charts, and turned her into the first female country star. Wells's success in the 1950s and 1960s was so enormous that she still ranks as the sixth most successful female vocalist in the history of the Billboard country charts & in 1976, she was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame; and as of 2010-at age 91-is it's oldest living member.
