Product Notes

Review Lollipop Boy - Somewhere to go. Read this Professional review: With a Pet Shop Boys pop sense painted over space techno, Lollipop Boy introduces his CD, 'Somewhere to Go' and it's title track. The mood is a perpetual grooving relaxed performance - with the title becoming a mantra that sounds contemplative lined with irony. LP hits techno-land with track 3, 'An Eternity Might Come', and we get a glimpse of vocalist, Lurdes Fachadas. She whispers and sings over the beat and reminds us of a modern Claudine Longet. Lollipop Boy, aka Filipe Garcia, provides an infectious bed for the dance floor. LP goes into a European Dietre-ish vibe with track 6, 'Be Jesus'. Lyrics use metaphor to compare Jesus with modern-day icons. 'Jesus, has made us friends, without thinking about the consequences, be jesus if you dare, marlon brando the x-men'. Track 8, 'Mastermind', is a trip-trance offering that utilizes gentle keys to lift a percolating saw-tooth key figure. The CD continues with a similar brand of experimental groove/pop instrumental trance figures in the final tracks including 'Come Back', 'a New Hope', and the final bonus track, 'Last Curse' - a fitting end and another picture/taste of the vocal work of Fachadas. The overall quality of the recording is very good and the intent, which seems to merge pop and trip dance with a euro vocal veneer from Garcia works. His approach to vocals is throaty tenor reverbed memory that's updated for movement. We look forward to more. Biography Lollipop Boy was born in Lisbon, Portugal. He studied classical music during his childhood and adolescence, but it was the increasing expansion of electronic music and bands from the eighties such as Ultravox, Visage, Softcell, Depeche Mode, Human League, New Order, The Cure, among others, that influenced his musical background. He spent hours listening to those bands, dreaming about the London atmosphere of the time. He started to compose music using a Commodore Amiga computer during high school, and later on a synthesizer with a MIDI sequencer. At the same time he was taking his computer engineering degree at the university thus, he also uses his computer skills to produce his themes and albums, to create Lollipop Boy's website, videoclips, general artwork, CD sleeves and such. His musical background includes Electro Vision and Light Speed Approach, among other bands. His debut album as a solo artist is called 'Somewhere To Go'.
