Mark DeVille Jobson has been acting and singing his entire life and performed in theatre, cabaret, film, television, radio and commercials. It is singing and music that is his deepest passion, and in 1997 Mark released his first album, WHAT THERE IS. Two more albums have followed, MY HOUSE, and the most recent THROUGH THE FAITH, all of which contain music Mark describes as 'songs to both open your heart and engage your mind.' Whatever style of music he is singing, from theatre to pop to folk to chants and originals, one thing remains constant: 'The songs I love to sing are basically lyric driven, woven with incredible melodies; put them together and the experience is one of pure heart connection. And it's all about THE HEART. That is what I want to offer people when I sing.' In the song 'My House', composer Leonard Bernstein, in a few, beautifully written bars articulates how I would like to live my life: 'Make the floor of faith, make the walls of truth, put a roof of peace above; only build my house of love.' The album also represents the theatre, the 'house' where Jobson has lived for so many years as a performer, and of course where all of the music on this CD first came to life. This is an album of theatre songs, created in a framework that is more than just selections; it is designed to take the listener on a journey. Joined by Musical Director Scott Lacy, who arranged and played all of the songs on the CD, the arrangements and playing are more like a duet than accompaniment. The purity and simplicity of piano and vocal arrangements is a favorite of both.
