In 1993 a wildfire swept down the mountain I lived on. I was in a tux and had just placed my 17th Century Italian cello in the car when I looked up and saw the smoke. I ended up in the swimming pool hiding beneath a rowboat, fearing for my life. My cellos, art and armour were also in the pool....thank the gods because the house burnt and the boat caught fire. I was a professional studio cellist and had recorded hundreds of sessions and film dates...EarthWind&Fire, Stevie Wonder, Neil DIamond, Mainilow, Out of Africa, Officer and a Gentlemen. But after the fire I quit...it did not mean anything anymore to play music for a microphone in a room full musicians who were all as bored as I. I was missing the audience and the emotion that fills me when I play. So I picked up my cello and began performing and recording music that works for me.
