Marty Tanger's music seems from another time and place than his native New Jersey. A veteran of the Philadelphia music scene of the 1980s and 90s as a guitarist and vocalist with the Floyd Hunter Band, his music now sounds Delta fed. Though his influences include The Allman Brothers, The Band, The Beatles, Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris, Otis Redding, Muddy Waters & Hank Williams, he has developed a distinctive melodic style that encompasses many roots-based genres. You'll hear guitar, dobro, mandolin and some very noteworthy slide work in these compositions that ring of blues, bluegrass and folk genres. The writing is beautifully evocative; his songs are immediate, atmospheric and soulful. You'll feel you've been to the bayou and back when listening to these melodic meditations. They serve as thoughtful backdrops to life, for those who care to listen.
