MC Hansen is a professional Danish songwriter and musician living in Sweden. He released his debut album Bogrough Junction in 2004 with nine songs about life in the town of Bogrough Junction. MC Hansen owes a great deal to American music but his mix of folk, country and blues music leaves no doubt that he's from Scandinavia. Timeline: Mc Hansen Band was formed in the fall of 2001 as Mads Christen Hansen & the Nangijala Allstars with Rune Højmark on guitars, Michael Torp (Sprocket, Morris) on bass and Kenneth Boye Hansen (The Rockabilly's, Stillborn Tomato) on drums. Kasper Hajslund joined the band shortly after and Mads Valther replaced Kenneth Boye on drums. Jens Larsen joined the band in the spring of 2002 playing both upright and electrical bass and the band that would later record "Bogrough Junction" was formed. The Band played as Mads Christen Hansen Band and MC Hansen og Rune Højmark started doing warm up gigs a couple a times a month at Mojo Blues Bar in Copenhagen. A place that would almost later become their second home The plans of recording an album grew stronger as the number of concerts grew bigger and in the summer of 2002 a show at Café Bartof in Copenhagen was recorded for a possible live album. The band however wasn't satisfied with the result but the recordings were used as promotion material in the following year and got the band a little more than 40 gigs in 2003. In August 2003 the band started the recordings for their debut album with Bo Brinck (Savage Affair) on hammond organ and with Ole Moesmann as producer and engineer. The next three songs were recorded shortly before Christmas the same year this time with Dan Hemmer (Kenn Lending Blues Band) behind the organ. The album was starting to take it's shape. The last three songs were recorded shortly before the record's release namely in March 2004. This time Mc Hansen Band brought in a vocal group (The Doo Wop Dedication) and Peter Villaume on trombone while assisting engineer Henning Banjoman Hansen played the banjo on the song Sweet Loretta Mae. Prik Halliwood played the Hammond organ this time and "Bogrough Junction" was released on the 12 of June 2004. In April and May 2004 the band (now Mc Hansen Band) played 22 shows all over Scandinavia and witin only two moths the record had sold enough copies to cover it's production expences. "Bogrough Junction" was produced by Ole Moesmann and MC Hansen and was released on MC Hansen's own label Bogrough Records and was met by nice reviews in both radio and music magazines. Furthermore it has been played on both Danish, Swedish and Norwegian national radio and radio stations from Argentina, Russia, Germany, Australia and France have played the record. The summer of 2004 marked Mc Hansen Band finale as a five piece band and MC Hansen have been playing with different backing groups since then.
