Formed in the mid 90's as a reaction to the then omni-present grunge sound, THE MISSIONARYS take brilliant songwriting and combine rock, powerpop, and folk within a timeless landscape to create one of the most immediately listenable recordings to come along in quite some time.....'FEAST' Based in San Francisco,THE MISSIONARYS blend the talents of three highly charged individual musicians. The songwriting team of guitarist/lead vocalist Zane Drake and Bassist/vocalist Joe Laub are known in the songwriting community for their earthy and intense songs. With Drake's colorful guitar work and Laub's melodic bass, add the evocative brew of vocal work that features soaring melodies with superb two part harmonies. Rounding out the trio is Peter Kelly on drums and backing vocals. Kelly's brawny drumming and driving rhythms power THE MISSIONARYS through each track with precision timing. The Missionarys joined forces with Los Angeles based Producer/Engineer Eddie Ashworth (Sublime, DaDa, Izzy Stradlin, Pennywise)to begin the process of recording the songs that would become 'FEAST'. For six months the band traveled between San Francisco and L.A. laying down tracks in intense all day/night recording sessions. The result of the sessions are presented here in their REALITY/Brujo records debut ...'FEAST' Drake, Laub and Kelly shine brightly on widescreen alternative rockers like 'Throw Me a Line', 'Strange Lorraine' and King of Love', while the band shows a rare feel for understated drama on 'Trail of Tears' and 'Oasis'. FEAST is an appropriately named meal for the hungry soul eager for a tasty sound bite.
