REVIEWS: MISTIC REIN - DEJA VOODOO: Mistic Rein is an artist quartet, creatively blending a diverse array of instruments into modern rock compositions. The band is fronted by Iris Mareina, a high range vocalist with flair. Deja Voodoo is a ten-track mystery, where each song takes a surprising turn. A number of notable songs, 'The Mistic Rein' and both versions of 'If You Were Mine' aptly apply Middle Eastern textures with funky rhythms and rock solid guitars. 'Dreamin' floats on ambient beats and tones contrasted with a contemporary edge. 'Libra' has a catchy rhythm, expressive vocals with horns that give the song a jazzy flair. Mistic Rein is an original band with a sundry pallet of colorful sounds and styles. Deja Voodoo is an eclectic blend of ethnic sounds and contemporary rock styling that is innovative and intriguing! --Laura Turner Lynch for Kweevak.com - Recommended Tracks: (1,4,6) [USA/NJ 2006 - web] 'MISTIC REIN was yet another female fronted band - how many great female singers are there in NYC? ... is this the world's best kept secret? Great moods and fantastic arrangements.' --Emergenza Festival Review THE ONE 'The lyrics are outstanding and hit a very good vibe with a wonderful melody. The musical composition is wonderful and the harmonies truly shine. The title is profound. The vocals truly soar on this song. The harmonies blend well with the lead line and the musical composition is truly fantastic....This song could soar into mainstream markets and do just as well as in the dance market with a re-mix. Wonderful job!' -- Top 5 International Finalist - VH1 Song of the Year Contest 'SWEET!!...The music is exquisite and the soulful vocals of Iris Mareina wrapped around my entirety with warmth and energy...this has to be the best music to come out of Hoboken since Frank Sinatra!' --Jim 'Scoop' Boyle, KSYM 90.1 FM Radio, 'Your Only Alternative', San Antonio, Texas 'This could easily be the soundtrack to a Bond flick. It has a real exotic feel. The vocals sound a bit like Shirley Manson from Garbage only more seductive somehow. This would be a great make out CD. This is their third album, 'Karma' being their first, followed by 'Cobwebs' and now 'Deja Voodoo'. Their song 'The One' from 'Deja Voodoo' has received great responses from VH1's Song of the Year committee and they even placed 'The One' in the top 5 of their International Song of The Year Competition. Like I said, it has a real seductive feel that's infectious.' -- J.R. Oliver, EarCandyMag.com 'The band rocked the house with their eclectic style modern rock. Their tunes are tinged with elements of jazz, R&B, Indian, and ska, Mareina lit up the stage when she rocked out to 'Deja Voodoo', the title tune of their soon to be released CD...
