My Juliette / Crying Ocean EP (Pink Onion Records '06) First of all we'd like to say that there's no stunning member of the band called 'Juliette', the name 'My Juliette' is taken from the French novel written by The Marquis De Sade in the eighteen century, well known for his scandalous texts about sex, moral and debauchery. Now having made that clear, we proceed and introduce the crucial facts: My Juliette as a band exists since 2004 and was formed by Argentinean singer/guitarist Federico Zig who escaped his native country in the year 2000. Having finished his film degree he moved to the UK after witnessing the social collapse of his country that left it in a state of anarchy. He spent the next years living in the underground, finding shelter in dirty squats and surfing friend's sofas in the most unreal and bohemian environments. Started playing the first gigs around London and soon got to record a single with Strokes' producer Gordon Raphael (Wishes) which was loved by the people and acclaimed by the press. At these early stages some band members lost their mental health and had to abandon the ship although the band kept on playing gigs with new musicians. Today My Juliette unleash their first EP 'Crying Ocean' which is available through Pink Onion Records, a brand new label which previously got involved with the release of books and Hollywood movies. The band is formed by Federico Zig (vocals/guitar), Oliver D. Loveless (bass), Steve Brookes (drums) and also joined onstage by Lucie (keyboards) and singer Milla Gems. The result is a powerful alchemy somewhere between the Sex Pistols and The Velvet Underground. The Crying Ocean EP is a subtle but intense record loaded with baroque eclecticism. It goes through post-punk to folk melodrama flirting with reggae and jamming escapades along the way. It's lyrics bring back a slightly obscure and raw world that would please literature lovers in the likes of Dickens, Byron, or Baudelaire. In addition to this the EP has been produced in Gordon Raphael's studio and mastered by Graeme Duran who is widely reputed for working with Bjork, Sigur Ros, and many more. My Juliette has gathered along the way a committed group of followers and set it's name as on of the most unpredictable and original live acts in the new coming London music Scene.
