From Boston to Cuba, New York to Vancouver, this riddim-keeper has moved effortlessly from the sidelines into the production chair honing all the skills needed to work his magic on both skins and bass bins. First recognized as conga soloist winner for the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. He continued his studies at Berklee College of Music, Boston and at the University of Music in Havana, Cuba. He has toured and/or recorded with such acts as Orlando 'Maraca' Valle (Grammy Nominee), K-OS (multi Juno winner), Alexis Puentes (multi Juno winner), and Alpha Yaya Diallo (multi Juno winner). Now after such grooming Myles is bringing his knowledge bang up to the 21st century, fusing his knowledge as a musician/producer to create a performance of modern day tropical scorchers for the dance floor! Mixing Latin House, HipHop, Electro, B'More and African music, Myles has developed a sound that represents the knowledge of tradition with a vision of tomorrow. He has put out multiple releases and remixes with labels such as Future Elements, Borderline and his own label Deep Culture Music. As well, he has 3 album releases all fully produced on his own. He performs live as a DJ, MC and percussionist for different bands and events alongside a live performance of his own that incorporates all these skills together. This year Myles turns his attention to his first solo album release under his name, the album titled 'Good Life' (released spring of 2009), displays all of what Myles has to offer as a live performer. This 'live' 5 piece group turns swirling synths, latin percussion, turntablism and MC'ing into an up tempo, global street party. Well before the release of his album, his band has been lighting up clubs in Vancouver and opening for choice acts. Running at a high pace, Myles Bigelow has played well over 80 shows in the past year including his weekly nights in Vancouver and shows abroad. With the anticipation of his new album, this year promises to be the busiest yet. This is living, breathing, forward thinking Vancouver music- the progressive party sound!
