Natascha Leonie's 'forget humble' Having spent her early twenties working as a music promoter in Germany and Ireland and teaching music at a college in London, Frankfurt's Natascha Leonie has decided to sit on the other side of the studio with her debut album 'Forget Humble'. Natascha's eclectic taste in music is clear from listening to her record. She dips her foot in a number of different genres from Folk, Country, Indie Pop and Electronica. The album chronicles troubled relationships and personal growth in the last two years of her life with an alternating sense of sunny humour and sombre melancholy while tipping her hat gracefully to Tori Amos, Damien Rice, Alanis Morrisette, The Frames and Air along the way. She has assembled a group of talented musicians from all corners of Western Europe to assist her in this collection of songs and the quality of musicianship, recording and production surpasses the usual fare of debut Indie records. Variety is perhaps 'Forget Humble's greatest strength - it is clear from listening that Natascha appreciates a wide breadth of music and she poises a sound that embraces them all - sometimes delicately, sometimes rather intense - without impeding the flow of the record as a whole. While a clear passion for Folk music underpins all the tracks, she provides a tapas bar of genres which makes sure the listener is always engaged and interested as to where she chooses to cavort next. This debut record could be viewed as a statement of intent - a prologue in which she sets flags upon a number of different musical styles that she will revisit for more prolonged periods of time in successive releases. However, there is no denying that 'Forget Humble' is a strong collection of well crafted, easily palatable tracks that are infectious while still retaining their integrity.
