While writing a commercial on spec for Farmer John, the meat manufactuer in L.A., I saw a rural mural of Nebraska farm life, painted in vivid colors, showing cartoonish characters a block around the plant. I was fascinated to recreate what I saw musically. I researched Nebraska, it's great past, rich present and projected a musical future I saw after I lived there for a time. It's all here as arranged by the late great Gerald Wiggins, who sad to say, just passed in 2008. I recorded this work in the shadow of Mt. Rushmore at a tiny studio in Blackhawk, South Dakota with The Koda Trio. My hope is to literally have a Nebraska Masquerade on the plains for the people to enjoy globally, featuring recording stars singing six hundred and eighty-five original songs of mine in a challenge to the recording industry contest on the Billboard top 100 chart for charity and what's good for business, capitalistic competition!
