Nigel's experience as a performer is quite broad and it's definitely prominent in his music today. Studying on the trumpet in Houston schools for over 10 years, he performed with show bands for Mardi Gras in New Orleans four years and was given The John Philip Sousa Award for best jazz trumpeter in 1992. Nigel is no stranger to Gospel either; playing trumpet in church along side Pastor Charles Rhyne throughout his tenure was only icing on the cake. Pastor Rhyne was the 1st trumpeter of the Glenn Miller Orchestra for many years. Glenn Miller is noted for bringing Swing to the big band stage in the early 1940's. This might explain Nigel's love for Western Swing as well as other traditional styles. ' his life is summed up by country songs and it's music, he lives it, and lives it in Texas.' Nigel Edison's first self-titled debut demo-album is nothing but hard hitting, in your-face Country & Western music. He is the writer of three tracks and co-writer of one. There isn't a track on that album that doesn't make your toe tap. When asked what kind of music Nigel writes and plays, ' Yeah I'm from Texas but I don't think that's the only kind of music I write and play. My music could best be described as Contemporary Country & Western with a Southern Fried Gulf Coast flavor. Nothing but pure energy... I want people to feel my music, dance to it!' The musicians on the album play in Nigel's band, so what you hear on the album, will only be twice as good live. Try to catch him when he comes through your town, and be ready for a Show!
