'We're fundamentally a metal band at heart, but we are musicians as well, not just metalheads.' says guitarist Adam Sahlin. On Paths of Torment are an ethics-based metal band based out of the northwestern corner of Connecticut. Formed in 2003, the current ranks are rounded out by Lou Tanuis on vocals, Adam Sahlin and Dave Woltmann on guitars, Jesse Maddox on drums, and Chris Barry on bass. With forward-thinking lyrics and an intense sonic assault, they hope to conquer the globe one piece at a time. 'Our lyrics have something to say. I find that most lyrics today, don't have much to say, especially in metal. You can only talk about demons and ancient gods for so long.' says Adam, who wrote all of the lyrics on On Paths of Torment's new CD 'The Arsonist Plague' released on Creator-Destructor records in February of 2006. 'We're concerned with the fact that today's world, business-wise and music-wise seems so stagnant, and formulated due to social cliques and patterns. People are living these nine to five jobs, and in result are completely miserable and no one should have to be miserable to that extent, it's just not right.' Unconcerned with trends, On Paths of Torment will continue to push the boundaries of heavy music, and all music in general. All the while, the average age of the band is only 18. They have already befriended and played along the ranks of bands such as Invocation Of Nehek, Six Feet Under, Shadows Fall, Damageplan, Misery Index, The Haunted, Light This City, Through The Eyes Of The Dead, and The Acacia Strain. 'The Arsonist Plague' is sure to offer enough pummeling double bass, epic guitar solos, and guttural growls to fill your metal appetite, and will also be sure to enlighten you in the process. Through On Paths of Torment's uncompromising attack, and their heart to push through the uncompassionate stagnancy of the world, they will be sure to write another page in the history books of heavy metal.
