Pop Songs to Make Us Famous[CD]
Lappop Indie Rock pioneers Pants Pants Pants began in a secluded Virginia farmhouse at the turn of the century. It was there that the group's founding members, Sysop and Ted Dancing resolved to combine their love of enchanting electronica with the energy and intricacy of indie rock. Amidst this lush pastoral setting, the duo developed a sound that fluctuates effortlessly from moments of inescapable beauty to elated absurdity within a single song. In addition to their three self-produced EPs, and three self-produced videos, and this most recent full length album, the group also developed a completely original stage show and toured the country with it. They finally settled down in the San Francisco Bay area where they stumbled upon a marvelous new member, Lauren Lauren. Giving up certain stardom on the a capella circuit, this professionally trained vocalist came aboard to provide the duo their much needed legitimacy. Pants Pants Pants' stage show is a theatrical cry for attention, as varied as their musical offerings. Their unending list of exploits include a man-sized otter reciting spoken word, vocal parts cell phoned in from a singer in the audience, and a cover of the video for 'Mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm' by Canada's beloved Crash Test Dummies. Pants Pants Pants' music provides a little something for everyone. As one reviewer describes 'they gallivant carelessly around the musical landscape, from hip hop to electro pop to post punk noise rock.' Or to quote another 'Their instrumental choices, which involve as much crap (kids' toys, cell phones, you get the point) as legitimate instruments, might take a cue from Self's found-sound tomfoolery, and once you throw in the laptop-launched lunacy of Cex, you've got yourself a band. . .a band that throws their own milk-and-cookies intermission party and that lifts samples from Amadeus.'
