PASCAL FOSSARD, A BIOGRAPHY Having explored a new refined and colourful universe, Pascal FOSSARD, born April 26 1966, a tenor saxophonist having founded the quintet, started music at 6 at the conservatory of Sarcelles ( in the northern suburb of Paris ). After practising the violin for more than 7 years, he made his début as a tenor saxophonist and won his first high prize at the National Conservatory of L'Hay-Les-Roses in 1990, before getting definitively into jazz . He studied harmony, composition and arrangement with Armando GHIDONI at the International Conservatory of Paris. His meeting with the drummer Bernard RIZUTO enabled him to develop his experience in Big Band then in quartet. Afterwards, he worked in an octet with Armando GHIDONI, then decided to ' stand on his own two feet ' . Guided by a personal artistic faith, he has done his best to develop his inner talk while sticking to his own convictions. Having composed and performed an original repertoire of personal lyric and poetic works, he has been leading for four years a quintet composed of the pianist Emmanuel DAVID, the alto saxophonist Lionel DIAZ, the drummer Siegfrid COURTEAU and the bass player Brahim HAIOUANI. The Pascal Fossard Quintet has regularly been appearing in the most prestigious clubs of our capital: Sunset, Baiser Salé, la Balle au Bond as well as on other stages since 2003 and notably at the Enghien-les-Bains jazz festival (in the northern suburb of Paris ) on july 1° 2006 . The liveness of his work enabled him to get a national and international publishing contract with the label Sergent Major.
