Product Notes

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Peggy began singing almost before she could talk. She sang with the school orchestra and in the summer sang in shows produced for Six Flags Over Texas. After graduating from college, Peggy began singing in the many clubs and restaurants in the Dallas area while building a loyal following. Since many of her contemporaries moved to Los Angeles to pursue show biz, it wasn't long before Peggy followed. A well trained sight-singer, Peggy landed many commercial jobs in the day, while singing at many of the best clubs and bars in Los Angeles. While singing at the Money Tree, a popular club in Toluca Lake, the home of Bob Hope, Peggy met and fell in love with Bill Lohr, a brilliantly gifted pianist, composer, arranger, and producer. It wasn't long before Peg and Bill started the Bill Lohr Orchestra, which quickly became one of the most popular society bands in L.A.. Peggy also caught the attention of Alan and Marilyn Bergman who hired Peggy to sing demos of their songs. Peggy was the first to sing and record "Love Like Ours.' For the next several years, the Bill Lohr Orchestra was the dance band at the Academy Awards Governor's Ball. About this time Peggy and Bill began producing a family, and Peggy stayed home while Bill toured with stars such as Al Jareau, Lou Rawls, and Carmen McCrae. Bill caught the attention of the Lawrence Welk organization and was hired to be the musical director at the Lawrence Welk Theater in Branson Missouri. Peggy sang casuals and taught voice. Missing the great state of Texas, Bill and Peggy next segued back to Dallas Texas where they are on the club scene performing nightly. Peggy performs regularly at clubs in Dallas and headlines at annual jazz and pop concerts throughout the year. Content to raise her two boys and sing when she feels like it is enough for now. Back to California for a moment. Peggy and Bill built a studio in their home which became quite busy because of the sounds produced by Bill's artistry at the synthesizer and Peggy's ability to nail a demo in two takes. One of the regulars was good friend, songwriter, Michael Hollingsworth. After collaborating on around twenty songs, Michael decided to co-produce and album with Peg and Bill. The anchor song is "Listen To Your Heart" from the soon to be released film "The Gatekeeper", an award winning movie by John Carlos Frey. The song won the first prize for love songs in the Dallas Song Festival. What's next for Peggy? This is her second album and there will be more to come. In the meantime, sit back, relax, listen and become enthralled with Peggy Lauren's many other fans.
