The band 'Pertubando a Paz (Disturbing the Peace)' is the brain-child of Drummer/Composer/Arranger Andrew Scott Potter and Keyboardist/Composer/Arranger Eric Tillman. 'Wanted!' is a collection of original compositions by members of the band, based on various rhythms from Latin and South America as well as some straight-ahead Jazz tunes. It is truly an international project, recorded in Brazil, New York, and California. The core members of the band (Andy, Eric and bassist Paulo Russo)in a quartet which also included saxophonist Idriss Boudrioua, performed at this year's(2004) RIO DAS OSTRAS JAZZ& BLUES FESTIVAL in Rio das Ostras, Brazil near Rio de Janiero. They also did some studio recording in Rio for a future project. Andy and Eric both come from Chicago. They met in the early 70's, shortly after Eric's discharge from the U.S.AirForce. They played together on the local jazz scene for several years. Also during that period they worked with other artist (such as Andy touring with Minnie Ripperton and others, Eric with The Dells, Linda Clifford and others). In the late 70's Eric left Chicago for Los Angeles, when he began touring with The Temptations. Since moving to California Eric has played and/or recorded with a variety of artists, including,Willie Bobo,Justo Almario, Alex Acuna, Norman Connors, Billy Paul, GAP Band, Linda Hopkins, Billy Higgins, O.C.Smith,and many others. Also in the late 70's Andy moved to New York, hitting the local jazz scene, which in New York means a lot of world class players. Andy has played with such artists as: Carmen Lundy Dr.Lonnie Smith, Ryo Kawasaki, Walter Bishop Jr., Marcus Miller, Alex Foster, and others too numerous to mention. Potter & Tillman did 2 albums together('New York to L.A.: Coasting, and 'Space Rapture', both on the PO/ET label) in the early eighties, which have become collectors items on the international scene. For the last 17 years or so Andy has been living in Brazil, where he formed his own record company and has a number of recordings (including this one). 'WANTED!', contains music of various textures and tempos and is truly a 'listening' experience. Though mostly a Latin-Jazz project, employing Andy's own unique approach to various rhytmns, (including Coco, Diggity, Mangue-Funk etc.), it also contains some straight-ahead and avant-garde pieces. The project was also a great reunion for Potter and Tillman, who had not played together for many years after Andy moved to Brazil, and a great opportunity for the rest of us to hear some world-class artists at work. In addition to Andy & Eric on all tracks, guest artists include: Maja Tillman (Guitar)& Dena Tillman (Bass)on Track#2 Tony Cimorosi (Electric Upright Bass)on Trax#3 & #9 Paulo Russo (Acoustic Upright Bass)Trax 4,6,8, Carlos Ribiero (Electric Bass) Track 10 Enjoy!
