Phantomxray is a Onemanband consisting wholeheartedly of Multimedia Artist David L. Nelson who is steadfastly associated with Focus Fine Arts. Phantomxray thoroughly explores the realm of audio in much the same way a chemist tinkers with the periodic table of elements. It is my greatest pleasure to reach into the mysterious void of random frequencies and nonspecific rhythms in order to discover how best to blend subtle nuance with the audaciously abstract. Bovine Incline is my second release. Selections from our first "Songs of Swamp and Pond" done in collaboration with my splendidly creative wife Kimberly will eventually re-release here at CDbaby. Back to this release. Delving deeper into the nebulous realm of audio and music production over the last few years I have begun to explore some new and fascinating techniques for generating sound as well as manipulating, combining and weaving waves and tones together. This CD features a broad mix of new work including a spoken piece which hopefully generates some laughter or at least a pinch of shocking disbelief. I like surprises as much as the next gal/guy, therefore when good stuff happens in the mix I try not to get in the way of the flow, on the other hand sometimes a track requires some sweat-n-bending to get the sweet stuff out. In the end it's all a marvel to me and I feel much blessed to be able to work in the realm of music/audio production especially given the expansive landscape of evolving audio technologies. I work in many areas of the arts, including: Music, Painting, Drawing, Photography and Literature. There is a muse which lives in, on or around me, and provides me with a maddening array of choices at every hour of the day (even when I would like to do some sleeping). I write humorous fiction, short stories, poetry and the occasional political rant. I find writing to be a wonderful form of expression as it requires so little overhead and one can really paint fast with words. I have a background in mechanical design, prototype engineering, invention. I attempt to be vertical as much as possible during a given 24 hour period, while maintaining a substantial creative posture of fluid motion in some form of original action while bathing in the waters of visual luminescent photons cascading off the cones and rods of my internal stereo camera recording brain bank. This attitude however is coupled in nature with a serene joy and absolute appreciation of the audible world in both the deliberate composition and design of waves flowing in specific harmonies, as well as the random abstract generation of pops, clicks, hums, tweets, chirps, chatter, taps, which occur daily such as the unexpected howling tones of wind and weather sweeping across the little drums within mine own ear funnels. Fifty-nine years have I sang and stumbled upon this sphere of granite and gas. It has been my great good fortune to dance here among the likes of you and yours amid the tragicomic events of my little wisp of time in the spread of human history. I am amazed by existence and phenomena and the magic that can exist within the heart of a human being. Most if not all of the creative force/essence that I experience is something that comes inside and through me. A great deal of the time I do not even know where the words/concepts, ideas and inspiration come from, but they seem to arrive well structured and in a meaningful form, so I accept them graciously and wonder at the origin of the fountain of their birth. I am only a temporary container for their passage. A conduit/vessel, a wire, a pipe, a receiver and transmitter. If you like what you hear and would like to drop me a line or send comments, I can be reached at: Phantomxray@focusfinearts.com Cheers, David.
